Key Responsibilities
Oversee accounting, financial reporting, analysis and preparation of the consolidated financial statements.
Vendor management: ensure all vendors are paid up to date; actively review vendor relationships.
Bookkeeping: Streamline processes and ensure bookkeeping is up to date, including invoice entry, daily sales reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and proper recording of expenses incurred.
Performance management: Lead monthly store and company level P&L review with executive team; report weekly/monthly on major cost drivers such as cost of goods and labour.
Cash flow management: Model cash flow years into the future; create and maintain a dynamic cash flow model to allow the executive team to understand the impacts of strategic decisions as well as external factors
Payroll: Manage and process payroll, including tips, vacations, terminations, government remittances, and year-end returns (T4, RL1, etc.).
Accounts payable: Input and pay all invoices on time following internal approval procedures, and communicate with the vendor's A/R department.
Accounts receivable: Invoice customers and collect payment on time.
Cash management: Manage chequing accounts, credit cards, loans, etc.
Corporate budgeting and planning: Work with all departments to create annual budgets and actively measure performance
Regulatory compliance: Coordinate year-end file and audit requirements, comply with provincial and federal tax laws, report and remit HST returns, and apply for relevant government subsidies.
Quantitative analysis: Perform ad hoc quantitative modelling covering all areas of the business, including real estate, profitability, compensation strategy, and customer discounts.
Monthly and ad hoc marketing analysis, including advertising campaign ROI, customer base growth, and menu item performance.
Store-level support: Work with store managers to ensure daily sales are accurately captured, and that any customer service-related refunds are processed promptly and affably communicated to the customer
Lease management: Collaborate with landlords to ensure rent is paid accurately and on time, all tenant allowance and free rent obligations are honoured, and generally enforce lease terms, protecting the company from any overpayment or unwarranted chargebacks.
Qualifications
Proven 2-5 years of experience as a Financial Controller or similar role.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with different teams.
High level of integrity and professionalism.

Pay: $80,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
