With over 45 years of service delivery, the ANC provides a wide range of programs including language training, employment support, youth engagement, and community integration through multiple sites across the province.

We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented, and collaborative professional for the role of

Financial Controller

. Reporting to the

Senior

Director of Finance, HR, and IT

,

this senior finance role provides strategic and operational leadership for the organization's financial management and reporting functions.



The Financial Controller manages and optimizes financial systems to ensure accuracy, integrity, and integration across the organization. The role oversees financial reporting, project and grant accounting, budgeting and forecasting, and ensures compliance with funding agreements and organizational policies, supporting sound decision-making and long-term financial sustainability.

Role and Responsibilities






1. Financial Reporting and Data Management


Use Sage 300's financial reporting tools to develop customized reports and
dashboards that provide insights into program performance, budgets, and

funding compliance
Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, dashboards, and reconciliations Analyze financial data, monitor cash flow, and ensure alignment with budgets
and funding requirements





2. Project Accounting and Budgeting


Track income, expenses, and budgets for projects and grants to ensure
compliance
Reconcile financial transactions, review expenditures, and prepare audit-ready
documentation
Support program teams with cash flow analysis and standardized financial
management processes
Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and multi-year financial plans Monitor program budgets, perform variance analysis, and provide insights for decision-making




3. Operational and Audit Support



Monitor project financial systems in Sage 300 for accuracy and compliance. Support payroll allocations and updates (e.g., wage maps) Assist in year-end audit processes and finalizing the accounts by preparing required documents and material




4. Policy and Compliance



Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and contribution agreements Develop and improve financial controls, systems, and policies to enhance accuracy and efficiency



Qualifications and Experience




Qualified candidates will be given consideration, along with individuals possessing a blend of education and practical experience in financial planning and analysis, accounting, budgeting, or related financial functions, gained over multiple years In-depth knowledge of Canadian accounting principles, standards, laws and regulations is required. Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (ASNPO) would be an asset Proficiency in project budgeting and management is necessary Experience in financial statement preparation and stakeholder reporting Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office suite with expertise in data management for financial reporting through Excel and accounting platforms such as SAGE 300 Advanced Knowledge of Finance and Project Management Strong communication skills, adept at conveying complex financial concepts to stakeholders at various levels of financial acumen Collaboration skills with all staffing levels and external funders, organizational and time management skills are required



Conditions of Employment




Flexibility to work outside of standard core hours (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm) Satisfactory Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Valid class 5 NL driver's license and daily access to a personal vehicle is required
