Our firm is fast-paced and growing, requiring a highly skilled and strategic financial leader to oversee financial operations, planning, and analysis.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead our finance function and drive the firm's financial performance. Reporting to the executive leadership team, this role will be responsible for financial management, reporting, controls, and FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis). The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a strong background in multi-location financial operations, accounting, and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting

Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and general ledger management. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP. Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital, and banking relationships to ensure financial stability. Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audits, and corporate filings. Implement and maintain internal controls and financial policies to safeguard assets.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans to support business growth. Conduct financial modeling and variance analysis to assess profitability, cost efficiencies, and investment opportunities. Provide financial insights to support business decisions, pricing strategies, and expansion plans. Partner with leadership to identify cost-saving initiatives and revenue optimization strategies across all 18 offices. Prepare financial dashboards and KPI reports to track performance and key business trends.

Operational & Strategic Support

Work closely with department heads to streamline financial processes and improve operational efficiency. Lead and coordinate external audits and tax filings. Assess and implement technology solutions to improve financial reporting and analytics. Ensure financial compliance with provincial and federal laws related to legal services.

Qualifications & Skills

CPA designation (CA, CMA, or CGA) required. Minimum 5+ years of experience in financial management, with a focus on FP&A, accounting, and operations. Experience in multi-location businesses, professional services, or law firm accounting is an asset. Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations. Proficiency in accounting and financial software (QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively present financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
