Due to the anticipated increase in the business, the company is hiring for a senior accounting professional who will oversee the organization's financial operations, ensure the accuracy of its financial records, as well as work with ownership to manage the growth of the company. The newly created, hands on, position of Financial Controller will report to the Senior Project Manager and oversee the finance team.

What this Job Entails:

This is a full-time, permanent position with the organization. Oversee all accounting and financial functions of an integrated suite of businesses including: Ayrie Developments, Peak Management Group, Krane Mechanical + Electrical, and Kenon Builders Inc.

Responsibilities include the following:

Accounting operations: Oversee, manage and engage all accounting functions; including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll function, government remittance, and billing. Financial reporting: Prepare and publish accurate and timely internal and external financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Prepare working papers for year-end by external accountant. Budgeting and forecasting: Manage the annual budgeting process and produce financial forecasts and variance analysis reports to guide strategic decision-making. Internal controls: Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP. Audits and compliance: Coordinate and lead the activities of external auditors, and ensure the company remains compliant with all regulatory requirements and tax laws. Team leadership: Manage, mentor, and train the accounting and finance staff, clarifying roles and responsibilities to optimize department performance. Process improvement: Assess current accounting procedures and systems and implement new processes to improve efficiency and accuracy as needed. Financial analysis: Analyze financial data and performance metrics to provide insights and recommendations to executive management.
Skills and Qualifications:

Experience in full-cycle accounting is required. CPA designation is preferred but not required, 5-10 years of professional accounting experience (preference for accounting within the construction industry but not a must). Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders Possess an ability to work within a tight-knit team Deep knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and presentation abilities, and attention to detail are critical for success in this position.
