THE OPPORTUNITYNext Equities is seeking a highly organized and experienced Financial Controller to join our dynamic team in Leduc. As the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial activities of our group of companies, which includes Press Gallery, CRDN under Ortona Management, Most Oil, real estate assets, and venture capital investments.   • Manage all aspects of cash flow across multiple entities and bank accounts.
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements for Press Gallery, Ortona Management, Most Oil, and other subsidiaries.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for banking relationships, including managing transactions, and cash transfers.
  • Lead a team responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger functions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to address financial challenges and improve processes.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Coordinate the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
  • Manage debt financing and loan agreements, including monthly payments and reporting.
  • Oversee special projects related to financial system improvements, M&A activities, and venture capital investments.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation required.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial management and accounting roles.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards, accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience with cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Knowledge in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Enterprise) and ERP systems.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Experience in the manufacturing, retail, or real estate industries is an asset.

  • Serve as the primary liaison for banking relationships, overseeing transactions, FX, and cash transfers to maintain strong partnerships and support business operations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies to mitigate risks and maintain ethical standards.
  • Identify inefficiencies in financial processes and collaborate with operational teams to implement improvements, increasing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Analyze complex financial challenges and proactively develop innovative solutions to address issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain meticulous attention to detail in all financial activities, ensuring accuracy and precision in financial reporting and analysis.
