Duties and Responsibilities:
Monthly reconcile all balance sheet accounts including some expense accounts such as Advertising, Donations, and Donations in Kind, and maintain detailed records for Fixed Assets, for year-end.
Produce and remit GST, PST, and Corporate Tax monthly
Monitor and control Rebate accounts in conjunction with the Purchaser, General Manager, and Owner
Produce and balance financial statements and distribute them as required.
Produce Monthly Compliance Certificates and reporting packages for bank as scheduled
Set up new GL accounts, including updating in financial statement software
Post batches daily from POS daily and ensure accounts are in balance with accounting software, investigate and correct any variances
Facilitate and work with the external accountant at year-end
Close GL at year-end
Produce for the bank: Cash Flow Projection, Projected Income Statement and Projected Capital Expenditure listing
Liaison and assist any external government auditors such as PST, GST
Ensure accurate posting of all transactions to the appropriate GL accounts.
Process cash transfers between banks
Reconcile the main bank account weekly and all bank accounts at month-end, ensure all direct deposits are entered into POS at month-end
Book credit card fees and reconcile to monthly statement
Record all payroll items in accounting software
Deposit and record any rents, rebates and other cheques received outside of POS
Oversee Accounts Payable activities and cover on day off/vacation/absences
Thorough knowledge of payables coding/input
Review EFT/cheque runs prior to issuance, authorize as required, and verify acceptance
Generate any miscellaneous cheques when necessary
Close Accounts Payable at year-end, and do cleanup of sub-ledger as per schedule
Liaison with insurance company for insurance coverage purposes
Order equipment as requested or required
Invoice utilities to Osler Street tenants quarterly
Monitor and process, monthly vehicle registrations
Assist in software setup to ensure correct flow between the POS and accounting software
Ensure POS items will process through at Month-end
Train accounting personnel
Develop and maintain internal audit procedures to ensure profitability, detection of potential fraud and misuse of company funds.
Prepare reports and financial summaries as required by General Store Manager and/or assume other duties as assigned by the General Manager or owner.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Bachelor\'s Degree or equivalent business experience.
Certified Management Accountant Designation.
Must be knowledgeable and fluent in all aspects of general ledger and financial reporting
Experience in accounts receivables and payables -commodity is required
Be extremely efficient in Office 365
Be able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
Must have strong attention to detail, be accurate, alert and notice any oddities
Ability to co-effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
Must be eligible to reside and work in Canada
