We are currently seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee our financial operations and play a critical role on BFC's management team.

Responsibilities and duties include:
Financial accounting and reporting
Ensure all accounting system inputs are entered accurately and in a timely manner (cash deposits, A/R, A/P, Inventory and Payroll).
Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, reports and cash flow forecasts that are appropriate for internal and external users; investigate variances as needed.
Ensure appropriate application of GAAP for external reporting.
Reconcile and review key G/L accounts, including cash, inventory, receivables, payables, Work-in-Process for construction projects.
Monitor and manage the Club's day-to-day finances and finances for special projects.
Implement, monitor and enforce policies, procedures and internal controls to protect Club assets and ensure that financial and personnel information is secure.
Monitor Club expenses and seek cost minimizing alternatives.
Ensure that all statutory requirements are met including Not-for-Profit Status, Source deductions (CPP, EI), Income Tax, Goods and Services Tax, WSIB.
Prepare all supporting information for the annual financial and PCC audits and coordinate audits with the external auditor.
Prepare all supporting information for authorized organizations such as CRA, WSIB, Statistics Canada.
Assist with the Club's financial decision-making process by providing relevant information, analysis and guidance.
Payroll preparation and benefits administration
Be knowledgeable of the payroll process and be able to prepare payroll in the event of staff absence.
Review payroll reports from the Club's payroll provider (ADP) for anomalies and implement corrective actions.
Monitor and liaise with ADP for government remittances and annual T4's.
Manage the tracking of vacation, sick leave and other leave according to BFC policies.
Lead the negotiations and manage the employee insurance and benefits plan providers.
Budget preparation
Prepare annual budgets in consultation with GM and Finance Committee by collecting, analyzing, and consolidating historical data with anticipated future scenarios.
Assist staff with the preparation of budgets for funding applications, departmental budgets or special projects.
Member Services
Calculate and invoice for expenses paid by the club on behalf of hangar occupants including hydro, gas and property tax.
Provide financial advice and direction related to member issues and queries.
Insurance and Liability
Administer the Property, Fleet Accident, General Liability, and D&O liability insurance.
Prepare annual policy renewal documents and liaise with insurance brokers.
Review and ensure certificates of insurance for training on private aircraft meet BFC's minimum requirements.
Ministry of Colleges and Universities
Prepare all necessary documents for audit to ensure successful annual renewal of PCC status with MTCU.
File annual PCC renewal, ensuring all requirements are met.
Manage Property Tax Files and Negotiation
Act as point of contact for the Club for property tax issues.
Initiate action to ensure all changes i.e. new buildings, are reflected on Town's tax bill.
Banking Contact and Negotiations
Liaise with our bank for all banking issues, including investments, credit cards, lines of credit, loans and authorized bank signatories.
Qualifications:
Education and Professional designation:
University degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business Management/ Administration.
Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant designation
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and internal control principles.
5 years' experience in financial reporting and full-cycle accounting.
Must possess strong analytical skills and enjoy problem solving challenges.
Must be able to recognize problem areas and be resourceful at seeking solutions.
Must be able to work with all levels of staff.
Strong verbal and written communication and diplomacy skills.

Pay: $105,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
