The Opportunity; Strategic Leadership in a Dynamic, International Environment
We are looking a Financial Controller who is strategic, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing financial operations within a fast-paced, international distribution environment. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the company's growth through sound financial planning and risk management.
You will work closely with the executive team and lead a small but capable finance department, currently consisting of an Accounting Manager and an AP & AR Coordinator. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial setting, takes initiative, and brings a proactive approach to financial leadership.

Key Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting and financial operations, including AP/AR, general ledger, and month/year-end close.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and performance reports and provide insights to improve profitability and efficiency.
Develop and implement robust cash flow management and foreign exchange (FX) risk mitigation systems.
Ensure compliance with CRA regulations, tax laws, and internal financial policies.
Lead regulatory reporting, tax filings, and manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.
Establish and maintain internal controls and financial governance frameworks.
Provide strategic financial input to support business planning and decision-making.
Manage relationships and optimize working capital and financing strategies with banks, investors and other financial institutions.
Work with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis.
Mentor and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Drive the effective use of Microsoft Dynamics 365 (formerly Navision) for financial reporting and operational efficiency.
Lead initiatives to automate accounting processes for improved efficiency in reporting, reconciliation, and routine tasks.
Prepare accurate and timely Sales Commission Reports
What You Bring
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA or CMA designation strongly preferred.
5-7+ years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably in a small to medium sized distribution or import/export environment.
Proven experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (NAV/Business Central), Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and other financial tools
Strong knowledge of foreign exchange, cash flow forecasting, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent leadership, communication, analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
Experience working with international suppliers and multi-location operations is an asset.
