Primary Focus

The Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing financial data, identifying trends, preparing reports, and providing insights that support business decisions. The Financial Analyst will drive operational efficiency and will be accountable for ensuring accurate financial reporting.



What do the daily responsibilities look like?



On any given day, the Financial Analyst will:



analyze expense accounts and other financial data to identify trends, variances, and outliers effectively communicate and present expense analyses to management prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports that compare expenses incurred to the budget and the latest forecast prepare prepaid, accrual, and other month-end entries as well as balance sheets and revenue reconciliations in accordance with our month-end and quarter-end timelines; variances must be investigated, and solutions should be presented to management to ensure accurate and complete statements prepare cost and trend analyses to aid in the preparation of forecast and budget documents support the preparation of documentation required for the annual financial audit; this will include year-end reconciliations and additional working papers requested by the auditors interpret and apply the organization's financial policies and procedures provide feedback to management and assist with revising frequently used policies and procedures; this includes, but is not limited to, policies related to travel, credit cards, treasury, and fixed assets be a subject matter expert on the fixed asset schedule by interpreting the internal capital asset policy, appropriately classifying and recording the assets, and calculating depreciation prepare goods and services tax (GST) and Quebec sales tax (QST) returns and communicate with tax authorities as required review internal processes with a focus on finding efficiencies and implementing approved changes manage ad hoc requests and projects.

Is this the right role for you?



The Financial Analyst will likely have:



a postsecondary education in a relevant area such as business administration or accounting and no less than 4 years working in a similar role; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered knowledge of financial principles and practices related to the preparation of financial statements, forecasting, and account analysis strong analytical skills as well as the ability to exercise good judgment strong time management, organizational, and prioritization skills along with a high degree of flexibility to meet ongoing organizational needs a proactive attitude and ability to work independently as required excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization with strong attention to detail experience working collaboratively, prioritizing, and balancing multiple competing tasks effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment a respectful, approachable, and team-oriented approach while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment an understanding of information databases and business financial systems an intermediate-advanced proficiency using MS Word, templates, and large Excel files.

experience with SAP Concur and Sage 300 Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or in process fluency in French.
