The Opportunity:




The Financial Analyst, reporting to the Manager of Finance and Procurement, plays a key role in supporting the hospital's financial operations and strategic objectives. This position is responsible for facilitating the annual budget cycle, preparing accurate financial, statistical, and performance reports, completing month-end processes and financial statements, and ensuring timely Ministry of Health (MOH) reporting. The Financial Analyst also champions the development and implementation of innovative monitoring tools to enhance financial oversight. This role interacts with various levels of leadership and external stakeholders to communicate financial goals, strengthen internal controls, identify risks and mitigation strategies, and provide insightful recommendations that support the organization in achieving operational excellence and pursuing new opportunities.




Qualifications:




Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) designation required. Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, ideally within the Ontario healthcare or broader public sector. Experience working in a hospital, LHIN, or health authority is a strong asset. Familiarity with Ontario Health funding models, provincial reporting (MIS/OHRS), and ministry submissions. Must have basic computer skills with advanced Excel and financial modelling skills. Proficiency with financial and reporting systems (e.g., Meditech, Workday, Power BI). Strong analytical, organizational, prioritization and communication skills. Ability to convey complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders. Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers Must adhere to the duties of workers, as stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act Must have an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in order to provide excellent communication with team members, patients and families. Ability to communicate in additional language(s) is considered an asset. Must be dedicated to professional growth & development Must have demonstrated excellent attendance/performance record Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with other members of the health care team




Duties and Responsibilities:




Financial Planning & Analysis


Lead the development and monitoring of annual operating and capital budgets in collaboration with department leaders. Provide insightful variance analysis and financial forecasting to support strategic decision-making. Prepare multi-year financial plans and long-term capital forecasts aligned with hospital priorities and provincial funding frameworks. Support leaders in the preparation of business cases, impact analyses, cost analyses and special projects. Other duties as assigned.

Reporting & Compliance


Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal leadership and external agencies for the hospital and external partners. Ensure compliance with Ontario Health and Ministry of Health financial reporting requirements. Support and ensure the completion of all reporting requirements in compliance with Cananda Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations. Support year-end audit processes and liaise with external auditors as required. Stay up to date with relevant accounting standards and guidelines to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of financial information.

Decision Support & Strategic Projects


Develop business cases for new initiatives, service expansions, and capital investments Conduct cost-benefit analyses, ROI assessments, and benchmarking studies. Provide financial expertise on cross-functional projects, such as program redesign, service efficiency, or funding changes

System & Process Improvement


Drive improvements in financial systems, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency. Support implementation and optimization of ERP or financial systems (e.g., Meditech or other hospital-specific platforms). Promote data integrity and integration between clinical and financial systems.

Hours of Work:

Monday to Friday, days. Please be reminded that as a Hospital, in order to provide the necessary patient care, our operations run 24/7. Therefore, depending on the program for which you are applying, it may be an expectation that you are available to work weekdays and weekends, as well as all shifts - days, evenings, and nights.


Wage:

$49.27 - $58.51 per hour plus applicable shift premiums for evenings, nights and weekends.
