Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! The Financial Analyst will provide financial analysis and business decision support to the Discount Merchandising and Operation teams.

Here\'s where you\'ll be focusing:

  • Serve as a business partner.
  • Work with cross-functional teams including Merchandising, Operations, and Accounting.
  • Prepare various weekly KPI reports and scorecards in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Support the Merchandising team on Sales and Margin analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Variance analysis on period-over-period to provide insight to monitor performance and guide business decisions.
  • Prepare journal entries and billings.
  • Assist in period end closing and review.
  • Assist in annual budgeting and monthly/weekly forecasting.
  • Assist in the development of business cases; build financial models to support business cases including revenue projections, profit calculations and scenario analyses.
  • Special projects as assigned.
What you have to offer:
  • An Undergraduate Degree in business field (Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting or Finance); CPA/CFA designation is an asset or relevant experience
  • A minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience. Solid financial knowledge and business acumen. Experience in the Retail or Consumer-Packaged Goods industry is an asset.
  • Accounting experience an asset.
  • Advance skills in MS Excel. Proficiency in MS tools (PowerPoint, Word).
  • Possess strong analytical skills with ability to present data in a meaningful way and make recommendations.
  • Show initiative and make impactful decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Think critically and recommend ideas for improvement of existing policies and practices.
  • Have proven problem solving skills and the ability to implement solutions.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Be able to work in a cross-functional team environment. Excellent social skills when working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Be able to prioritize and effectively manage varying deadlines.
  • Have strong attention to detail and deadline oriented.
  • Tech Savvy: SAP, SAP Business Warehouse experience, proficiency in programming languages (i.e., Python, SQL) is an asset.
