Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation is recruiting for a Specialist, Financial Accounting in our Calgary office. This position reports to the Manager, Financial Accounting in the Gas Services Business Unit, (GBU), part of Pembina's Facilities Division.

The Gas Services Business Unit provides gas gathering, compression, shallow cut processing and both sweet and sour deep cut processing services for its customers, primarily on a fee-for-service basis under long-term contracts.

Pembina's assets comprise a strategically located network of pipelines and related infrastructure including various facilities, hubs and terminals. This network transports crude oil, condensate and NGL across much of Alberta and parts of British Columbia, Saskatchewan and North Dakota.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Contract reviews and interpretation to ensure appropriate accounting treatment is followed;
  • Prepare & review accounting models, including Make-Up Rights, Deferred Revenue, and Revenue Disaggregation in accordance with IFRS 15;
  • Assist and prepare quarterly reporting requirements including, but not limited to, Asset Impairment testing, Lease Maturity Disclosure, Contract Liabilities, Future Performance Obligations, and Significant Contracts;
  • Assist with Quarterly Financial Reporting for Gas Services & Pembina Gas Infrastructure (PGI), a Joint Venture owned by Pembina & KKR;
  • Lead the BU process, and work collaboratively with various groups in preparation of our Annual Asset Retirement Obligations (ARO) update;
  • Review various legal entity financial statements within Gas Services & PGI for regulatory and tax purposes;
  • Support and lead continuous improvement initiatives across the GBU financial accounting group;
  • Assist Audit Coordinators with complex audit claims and support the efficient close out of audits;
  • Support leaders and financial accountants in the annual Equalization (13th month adjustment) process for timely, accurate submission;
  • Collaborate with Corporate Accounting and Internal Audit to ensure the Business Unit is in compliance with IFRS accounting standards and SOX controls;
  • Maintain & improve internal control processes and documentation;
  • Lead & assist Ad Hoc Special projects as required, and;
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of post-designation experience in a similar or related roles;
  • Bachelor's degree (Commerce, Bus. Admin or related discipline) and professional accounting designation required;
  • Proven experience with the interpretation and application of IFRS 15 and 16 required, along with a strong understanding of IFRS accounting standards preferred;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic and deadline driven environment;
  • Strong knowledge of all MS Office tools, particularly Excel;
  • Motivated self-starter who performs well independently and within a team environment; ability to adapt effectively to changing priorities;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interface positively and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Organized, detailed, analytical and able to consistently deliver accurate and timely information;
  • Tackle challenges head-on, finding innovative solutions to problems as they arise;
  • Maintain a positive outlook, fostering a positive work environment and motivating team members;
  • Consistently deliver results, meeting project deadlines and achieving project goals;
  • Experience with SAP, Power BI, and software implementation would be an asset; and
  • Experience in oil and gas, and specifically midstream/pipeline industry would be an asset.
