We are hiring a Financial Accountant, Tawse Finance!

Reporting To: Supervisor, Tawse Finance
Full-Time/Part- Time: Full-time

Hours of Work: 8:30 a.m. \xe2\x80\x93 5:00 p.m.
Grade: 4

The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Tawse Finance Supervisor, the Financial Accountant is responsible for ensuring all assigned accounts are reconciled, posting all Journal Entries and assisting with Year End. Tawse Finance is responsible for the accounting records of a rapidly growing group of companies.
  • Prepare Bank Reconciliations for the various bank accounts
  • Post FNF Remittances and reconcile to the Remittance Report
  • Research outstanding items in the various reconciliations
  • Post RBC DS Journal Entries and reconcile to the statement
  • Post loan transactions and keep spreadsheets updated
  • When in the office pick up mail to be scanned, copied, and filed
  • Reconcile Inter-company loan GL\xe2\x80\x99s
  • Monitor bank balances and transfer funds to avoid overdrafts
  • Investigate unidentified transactions and report to supervisor any transactions with no back-up
  • Accounts Receivable \xe2\x80\x93 Send out invoices and statements. Follow up on accounts with overdue balances
  • Accounts Payable - post invoices and prepare weekly cheque runs to ensure timely payment of expenses
  • Assist with preparation of reports up to Trial Balance to be sent to Tax Accountants
  • Post all Journal Entries and file supporting documents
  • Prepare bank deposits and take to the bank
  • File HST returns and pay any balances due
  • Make payments for Federal Tax instalments
  • Assist in overall achievement of department wide work objectives
  • Conduct any general duties, special projects and responsibilities as assigned or required by the Tawse Finance Supervisor in a timely and professional manner
The Requirements Needed:
  • Post secondary education preferred
  • Minimum 12 months accounting work experience
  • Experience working with Sage Accounting and Microsoft Office Applications
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
