Job Description

The Financial Accountant will support operations and cost accounting.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide back up support to Senior Cost Accountant.
  • Partner with the Information Management group to identify improvements and changes to the SAP system.
  • Responsible for working in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures; properly uses personal protection and safety equipment as required by CPL; reports any injury or illness immediately and notifies CPL of any hazards, unsafe acts or conditions in the workplace.
  • Create standard cost for newly created semi and finished goods materials.
  • Manage the fixed asset module. Create new assets and monitor existing assets and depreciation. Provide monthly fixed asset schedule.
  • Support Accounts Payable Clerk by entering and filing Lab Services invoices.
  • Maintain list of Finance storage boxes sent to Iron Mountain.
  • Performs certain balance sheet account reconciliations and General ledger account analysis.
  • Compile month end reports such as Inventory Balances, Inventory Turns, slow moving, Purchase Price Variance and Waste report for management.
  • Book provision for obsolete/rejected inventory and calculate the over/under absorbed overhead costs.
  • Perform Consignment Inventory reconciliation.
  • Assist in Year-End Financial and cycle count inventory audit.
  • Contributes to achieving lean goals and continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completed post-secondary accounting program or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of general accounting experience is required.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Proficient with a variety of computer programs including MS Office programs and SAP.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication and interpersonal skills; a team player.
  • Flexible with the ability to adapt, respond quickly and manage change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated competencies in CPL\xe2\x80\x99s core values (Integrity, Respect, Trust and Fairness).
