Position Overview The City of Kamloops is seeking a temporary, full-time Finance Technician to join our Corporate Services team! We are seeking someone who is passionate about performing skilled accounting and clerical tasks while maintaining the confidentiality of the organization. This person will work independently while maintaining a high frequency of attention to detail and organizational skills. Being able to prepare journal entries, work with data, verify, reconcile and perform adjustments and take corrective action when necessary, are some of the job functions involved with the role. The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
Completion of a minimum of 45 credits of a business-focused degree from an accredited university or post-secondary institution, including the completion of a management accounting course and a financial accounting course.
Proficient in intermediate Word and intermediate Excel, as demonstrated through testing (70% pass rate required).
Minimum one year\xe2\x80\x99s previous accounting experience that includes ensuring compliance with policies and procedures and working with electronic applications and software programs.
Proficient in advanced alphanumeric data entry as demonstrated through testing.
For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. A comprehensive benefits package is included with this position. This is a CUPE local 900 position.
This position may or may not be filled based on the outcome of our Finance Coordinator 1174 (Temporary, Full Time) and Finance Coordinator - Training Opportunity 1175 (Temporary, Full-Time) postings.
This is a temporary position until approximately July 2, 2024 or return of incumbent.
Hourly Rate $33.27
Hours & Days of Work Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM \xe2\x80\x93 4:30 PM (winter) 8:00 AM \xe2\x80\x93 4:00 PM (summer)
This position will be eligible for a modified schedule (one extra day off every third week).
Hours per Week 35
