We believe that our greatest opportunity is to create opportunity and meet people where they are.Find our story here:As a Finance Specialist:You will provide support for the Meridian for Good strategy by supporting the financial analysis of new initiatives and business decisions, providing insights and reporting on Lines of Business "LOB\xe2\x80\x99s" and product profitability and supporting the Financial Outlook and long-term projections. This role is responsible for assisting with regular updates on LOB profitability and capital efficiency as well as preparing financial assessments of new business opportunities to support decision making. With an understanding of the business, the Finance Specialist will leverage tools and technology to extract and convey financial information and insights in a way that enables key stakeholders to understand the impacts, risks and benefits.The successful candidate will have a passion for continuous improvement, a strong sense of accountability and a proven ability to partner with key stake holders to optimize business decisions and maximize profitability.What you will do:LOB Profitability

  • Assist with monthly/quarterly reporting and insights by LOB
  • Utilize Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) methodology to report Net Interest Income by business lines and help evaluate NII performance by product owner
  • Analyze and explain variances to Plan on all lines of the P&L
New Initiatives & Analysis
  • FP&A representative at Project Intake meetings
  • Work with Project Office to help identify financial impact and financial benefits of projects
  • Assists with financial analysis, cash flow and P&L projections to support internal projects and external opportunities
  • Assists with the financial evaluation of new initiatives to key stakeholders to ensure they are making the most effective business decisions throughout the duration project and beyond
  • Benchmarking KPIs internally and externally
  • Leverage technology and resources to extract, explain and drive insights
Planning & Forecasting Support
  • Supporting business partners to help build their budget
  • Help with business modelling on new revenue lines
  • Assist with quality assurance on the annual Plan and forecasts
  • Ad-hoc analysis as needed
Client Support/Communication
  • Demonstrates ability to explain complex financial information and concepts to different audiences, including non-Finance audiences
  • Ability to work with different levels and teams of the organization and the ability to obtain required information to support or develop analysis
  • Working with additional teams within FP&A to ensure alignment and gather key information
  • Develop presentations to support and present various financial analysis
  • Help business partners understand their results
  • Act as a finance liaison throughout as required
How you will succeed:
  • Strong business acumen, excellent interpersonal and communications skills and ability to interact with different levels of the organization
  • Post-secondary education in Finance or Business Administration or related field
  • Knowledge in financial analysis, budgeting & forecasting, and management reporting
  • FTP methodology knowledge is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and summarize large quantities of data and access data from multiple sources
  • Experience pulling and manipulating data in SQL a strong asset
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with Oracle NetSuite considered an asset
  • Relationship building skills with an ability to effectively partner cross-functionally
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage technology to streamline processes, tools and analysis
  • Experience working in a fast paced & collaborative environment
