About the role
The Finance Operations Manager helps lead accounting and finance operations for the organization, including the preparation and analysis of financial reports, the management of internal controls and policies, payroll, and the supervision and development of the finance and accounting staff. Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Finance Operations Manager will be responsible for operational efficiencies, ensuring compliance with finance and accounting standards, regulations, and best practices, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting.
What you'll do
Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in accordance with the accounting standards and internal policies.
Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all reconciliations, adjustments, and accruals.
Oversee the daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, staff payroll, fixed assets, and general ledger.
Influence operational improvements through system enhancements and software and workflow efficiencies.
Supervise, train, and mentor the accounting staff, and provide guidance and feedback on their performance and development.
Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities, and ensure compliance with statutory and legal requirements.
Collaborate with executive team and other departments to support financial planning.
Monitor and maintain the effectiveness and efficiency of the accounting systems, controls, and procedures, and recommend and implement improvements as needed.
Analyze and interpret financial data and trends and provide insights and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
Support the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts and assist with variance analysis and reporting.
Participate in cross-functional initiatives to improve financial systems and processes.
Research and update the accounting policies and standards in accordance with changes in regulations and best practices.
Perform ad hoc financial projects and tasks as assigned by the CFO or senior management.
The skills you bring
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
At least 7 years of relevant experience in finance/accounting, including 2+ years in a managerial role
CPA or equivalent designation is preferred
Knowledge of accounting standards, principles, and practices, as well as tax and regulatory requirements
Organizational skills to handle multiple projects with conflicting timeliness
Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or Oracle NetSuite, and MS Office applications, especially Excel
