TITLE:

Finance Officer (2 full-time permanent positions)

QUALIFICATIONS:

oPost-secondary education in accounting or an equivalent combination of formal education and related financial experience.

oExperience may include overseeing the management of accounts payable, receivables and invoicing.

oExperience in the preparation or drafting of internal financial statements.

oDemonstrated proficiency working in a computerized environment and with integrated financial and management information systems and payroll software. (Preference for prior experience with Excel, GP Dynamics, QHR and Quick Books.

oExperience preferred in fund accounting, recording and reporting as required for government funded not-for-profit organizations.

oExperience working in healthcare and social services an asset.

oExperience in residential property management accounting encompassing fixed rent, rent-geared-income and life lease models as well as commercial lease management and reporting an asset.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a member of the financial services team, works collaboratively to provide financial services and reporting in support of all FDS entities. Works within the framework of the Society's philosophy, policies and procedures, standards and applicable legislation. This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search and Adult Abuse Registry Check as a condition of employment

Financial Management:

oPrepares and provides all internal reporting, forecasts and variance analyses on monthly and quarterly basis.

oAssists in the preparation and completion of all year-end financial statements and reports.

oAssists in preparation of year-end working papers for audits for all entities and assists auditors as required

Accounting:

oPrepares and enters required monthly standard journal entries into the accounting system.

oPrepares and enters other adjusting or correcting journal entries required for month-end.

oPrepares all monthly subledger and bank reconciliations.

oEnters monthly statistics into the accounting system.

Others related responsibilities:

oProvides backup coverage for Financial Analyst and Accounting Clerk duties.

oAttends department and general staff meeting, in-services and seminars, as required.

CONDITIONS OF WORK

The conditions of work may involve prolonged sitting with extended periods of time using a desktop computer. The conditions may also include unpredictable resident behaviour as an occasional hazard.

77.5 Bi-weekly paid hours
