LONDON FOOD BANK JOB DESCRIPTION
FINANCIAL OFFICER

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Co-Executive Director(s) the Financial Officer is responsible for the overall financial operations of the London Food Bank, including administration of accounting functions, budgets, payroll, tax remittance and compliance, and related statements and reports in accordance with applicable policies, procedures and regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monthly financial reporting cycle including balance sheets, journal entries, income & expense statements;
  • Oversee the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, bill payments, invoicing, etc
  • Complete account reconciliations including bank, credit cards and fundraising, etc
  • Completing of required monthly/annual financial reporting (for ED, Board, funders, etc)
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial reports,
  • Monitor and Complete weekly banking balances, deposits, cash flow, etc;
  • Prepare annual organization budgets for ED and Board;
  • Coordinate and support the annual audits;
  • Prepare the annual registered charity information;
  • Manage the employee payroll process, and government payroll remittances including WSIB and Benefits;
  • Administering employee benefits, attendance and vacation tracking;
  • Implement, support, maintain applicable financial and accounting functions and processes;
  • Manage accounting spreadsheets/software/database to ensure accuracy, security and confidentiality;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, policies related to financial procedures ;
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Accounting or Financial degree or diploma;
  • 3-5 years of financial and/or accounting experience;
  • Experience working in a similar role with a non-profit organization is preferred;
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations;
  • Excellent financial software/database proficiency;
  • Excellent communications skills;
  • Effective and positive interpersonal skills, with employees, outside agencies and the public;
CONDITIONS OF WORK:
  • Salary TBD - will be based on level of education and experience
  • 37.5 hours/week. Monday to Friday
  • Vacation and benefits as per human resource policy
