Job Description

Degree in Accounting or Finance.

Accounting Designation or enrolled in CPA program (preferred)

Experienced with variance reports related to raw materials usage, labour, fixed and variable overhead.

Familiar at managing and administering the month-end closing activities, including variance analysis and monthly reconciliations.

Familiar at accurately assessing the true cost of business activities.

Familiar at assisting the facility leadership team with the assessment of continuous improvement (CI) projects and processes.

Strong track record of managing projects related to budgeting, cash flow, capital, and facility initiatives.

Experienced at establishing and enforcing financial policies aligned with corporate standards, while ensuring robust internal controls to protect assets and maintain accurate financial reporting

Familiar with reporting of actual cost and performance against projections.

Very familiar with the financial operation in a warehousing/distribution environment.

Travel to multiple plant locations throughout the year.

Experience with SAP (nice to have).

Finance Manager - Farms & Joint Ventures



The Finance Manager - Farms & JV is the finance lead for the Farm & JV division of Burnbrae Farms and is responsible for financial reporting, forecasting, monitoring, planning and analysis. He/she prepares financial statements and works closely with the facility leadership teams to implement KPI tracking, process improvement and efficiencies to drive profitability. The Finance Manager - Farms & JV is solution focused and thrives in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

:

Prepares monthly/quarterly/annual reporting packages and reviews variance reports related to raw materials usage, labour, fixed and variable overhead

Partners with facility leadership to strategically plan, evaluate, and interpret operational data in order to accurately assess the true cost of business activities.

Assists the facility leadership team with the assessment of continuous improvement (CI) projects and processes. Measures and reports on progress toward planned goals.

Manages projects related to budgeting, cash flow, capital, and facility initiatives.

Manages and administers the month-end closing activities, including variance analysis and monthly reconciliations.

Manages A/R and A/P with indirect oversights with some administrative staff.

Establishes and enforces financial policies aligned with corporate standards, while ensuring robust internal controls to protect assets and maintain accurate financial reporting

Participates in annual audit requirements, as necessary.

Works with the Management team to ensure timely reporting of actual cost and performance against projections.

Participates in special projects which may from time to time be assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:



Experience working in a hands-on financial operations capacity in a decentralized, multi-location environment

Highly collaborative in nature and able to work effectively with cross-functional teams

Strong leadership and team building abilities: influence, mobilize, gain personal commitment and achieve results

Self-motivated and comfortable working in an environment with minimal supervision

Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and related provincial and federal regulations

Excellent computer skills; knowledge of database software; Microsoft suite software; SAP or similar ERP

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong decision making and problem-solving skills

Excellent planning and organizational skills with demonstrated multi-tasking and project management skills

Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time

Bilingualism (English/French) would be asset

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

:

Bachelor's degree in business/commerce or relevant field

CPA designation preferred

5 to 7 years of related work experience, preferably in a warehousing/distribution environment
