ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY NP Digital a fast-growing digital marketing agency looking to bring on board a driven and experienced accountant to manage all aspects of accounting for our two businesses based in Toronto and Montreal. Out Toronto-based business carries out professional services in the digital marketing space, and our Montreal-based business is a creative agency specializing in strategy and content production. The ideal candidate will also be required to provide some F,P&A support to the Director of F,P&A, who is based in the US.
Candidates must reside and authorized to work in Canada. ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Manage the financial accounting and reporting activities for both the Digital Marketing and Creative businesses

  • Prepare annual budgets for each of the entities

  • Administer all activities for general ledger, monitor integrity of all transactions and reconcile all balance sheets

  • Provide accounting support to the leaders of each entity

  • Prepare reporting packages including monthly statements and ad hoc reports

  • Accounts Receivable responsibilities include invoicing clients, collections, recording invoices and tracking statement of work/client contracts

  • Manage Accounts Payable items such as receiving invoices, obtaining approvals, entering invoices and making payments

  • Record Payroll cost entries and monthly bank reconciliations

  • Supervise inter-company accounting activities for multiple entities to include creation of Statement of Work (SOW), ensure all intercompany invoices are raised and sent to appropriate teams, monthly reconciliation of intercompany balances and booking FX gains/losses

  • Assist in local and corporate internal and external audit efforts by assembling and reviewing working papers

  • Assist in resolution of any accounting and internal control issues related to international accounting operations

  • Improve timeliness and accuracy of financial closing and reporting ensuring account reconciliations, sending monthly financials to leadership and revenue recognition

  • Co-ordinate with local accounting firms to ensure compliance with all local accounting, tax, and other requirements

  • Handles local sales and other local tax filings with support from local accounting firm, if required

  • Identify internal controls and process gaps with a plan to implement recommendations for resolution

  • Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practice
ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS

  • 4-6 years of relevant accounting experience including Revenue recognition management, AP, AR, intercompany and GL AP, AR, intercompany and GL

  • Experience in accounting for revenue recognition in a production-based business

  • Experience in working in an international environment preferred

  • Professional accounting certification preferred, or a Bachelor\'s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting

  • High level of accuracy and efficiency while managing multiple priorities

  • Proficient in the MS Office Suite, including high proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, vlookups and various commonly used formulae in the accounting industry)

  • Experience with Xero and Quickbooks preferred

  • Excellent time management skills with ability to consistently meet goals and deadlines with little direct oversight

  • Proven self-starter and independent problem-solving ability

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining high quality work
