The Finance Internship is a foundational role designed to immerse interns in the core principles of finance within the dynamic field of freight forwarding. This position offers hands-on experience and practical knowledge, preparing interns for a successful career in finance

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As part of the Internship program and under close supervision the incumbent is responsible for performing the following duties in accordance with Hellmann policies and standards:

Handles all communication between Hellmann and all internal or external customers, providers and vendors Escalates all recurring issues to Supervisor Maintains service relations with customers, providers, vendors, and other Hellmann offices Responsible to ensure compliance with all applicable internal and external standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements Consults with supervisor prior to agreeing to non-standard exceptions Ensuring that customers, vendors, or providers are properly set up and maintained in company systems Manage communication with customers, carriers, and vendors, including addressing billing inquiries, providing status updates, and resolving discrepancies in a timely and professional manner. Support positive financial relations with customers, carriers, vendors, and other Hellmann offices by ensuring timely and accurate exchange of financial information. Ensure accurate setup and maintenance of customer financial profiles within company systems, including managing Powers of Attorney (POAs), credit applications, and customer billing preferences. Assist with the submission of purchase requests, ensuring proper financial documentation. Enter and update all required financial milestone tracking events within the area of responsibility, ensuring accurate financial reporting. Support system implementation related to the department Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



High School Diploma or GED One year of previous experience in freight forwarding industry, logistics or supply chain preferred Completion of any industry related course is an asset

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ATTRIBUTES



Organization al skills Time management and prioritization Customer-focused Adaptable / flexible to high-pressured environment Interpersonal skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Email, and Internet Proficient in world geography, shipping documentation, and Incoterms preferred Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as freight rates, discounts, and other percentages

PHYSICAL DEMANDS



While performing the duties of this job, the employee is: Frequently required to stand, and walk Regularly required to sit for extended periods Regularly uses arms to reach, hands and fingers for computer and phone use Speaking clearly and listening for heavy phone contact Requires close-up and computer screen distance vision ability
