The Finance Assistant will provide a wide range of financial and administrative support to the Senior Financial Officer. This role is responsible for assisting with day-to-day bookkeeping functions, financial reporting, and general accounting duties to ensure the efficient operation of the Caldwell First Nation Finance Department.
Key Responsibilities
Perform accounting and bookkeeping functions with minimal supervision.
Assist in the preparation and development of annual budgets.
Support Accounts Receivable activities, including invoicing, deposits, and filing.
Support Accounts Payable processes, including invoice processing and issuing payments.
Payroll processing and preparation of government remittances.
Perform bank reconciliations and assist with year-end audit preparation.
Prepare Youth Trust letters, draft requests, and process payments.
Support distributions to Caldwell First Nation members.
Review funding agreements for financial and reporting requirements.
Maintain working knowledge of General Ledger accounts, reports, and financial policies.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate expense tracking related to program funding.
Participate in cross-training on financial tasks within the department.
Qualifications
Post-secondary diploma in Accounting or Business Administration (required).
Experience with Sage 300 Accounting Software (asset).
Experience with Purely HR software (asset).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).

Pay: $23.00-$26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
