Prepare and update detailed audit schedules, including:
Trial balance support
Bank reconciliations
Accounts receivable and payable aging
Deferred revenue continuity
Capital asset roll-forward
Grant revenue/expense reconciliations
Accruals and provisions documentation
Coordinate with departments to collect supporting documents for audit testing.
Assist with preparing working papers in accordance with auditor requirements.
Review historical and current year transactions for accuracy and completeness.
Support the Director of Financial Operations and Reporting in responding to auditor inquiries and follow-up requests.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Assist in monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting processes.
Prepare variance analysis (budget vs. actual) and identify key trends or discrepancies.
Maintain accurate and timely general ledger and account reconciliations.
Prepare supporting schedules for internal and external reporting.
Financial Operations
Support processing and verification of invoices, journal entries, and adjustments as required.
Assist with documenting internal controls, accounting policies, and process improvements.
Maintain organized, audit-ready financial files in accordance with not-for-profit standards.
Support continuous improvements toward audit readiness and financial efficiency.
Knowledge/Skills/Education:
Diploma in Accounting/bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related field.
Minimum 2-3 years accounting or finance experience (not-for-profit experience is an asset).
Strong understanding of ASNPO (Canadian GAAP for Not-for-Profit Organizations).
Prior experience supporting audit preparation or working in an audit firm (preferred).
Proficiency with accounting software (Yardi, Great Plains) and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, analysis).
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
