BURNCO has a tremendous career opportunity for a sharp and motivated Finance Analyst to be located out of our Calgary, Alberta corporate office. Reporting to the Ready Mix Division Controller, the ideal Finance Analyst will possess an analytical mind along with excellent problem-solving skills. Bringing your good communication skills (both verbal and written) that will allow you to develop strong working relationships both inside the team as well as externally. You have a keen eye for detail and a desire to probe further into data, always mindful to deliver on the deadlines and time constraints you face. You are a professional who works well independently as well as part of a team.

What you Will Be Doing

  • Create, enter and process journal entries, including preparation of relevant supporting documentation
  • Maintain, review and complete general ledger reconciliations and balance sheet analysis, investigate and resolve account discrepancies
  • Assist with the preparation and analysis of month-end reporting packages to management and monthly/quarterly/year-end financial statements
  • Prepare analysis of key financial metrics and financial variances
  • Perform monthly inter-company reconciliation and profit elimination
  • Provide support to external auditors to explain and provide information and documents as required
  • Ensure adherence to finance process and controls, with an emphasis on continuous process improvements and gaining efficiencies through automation
  • Complete comprehensive monthly and quarterly valuation of inventory costing
  • Present any issues encountered with proposed resolutions to Controller
  • Responsible for the research and resolution of accounting issues, including evaluation and implementation of new accounting standards to ensure Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) compliance with supporting memo documentation
  • Ad hoc financial analysis and other duties as required by management team.
Work Hours
  • Hours of work will be Monday to Friday totaling 40 hours per week
  • Flexible start and end time.
What We Would Like From You

Qualifications/Competencies

The individual in this role will have:
  • 5+ years' experience
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls framework and testing processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel skills.
The following are considered assets in this role:
  • A CPA designation is preferred, but not required
  • Experience in construction/manufacturing an asset but not required
  • Knowledge in the use of Oracle Cloud and related reporting tools
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment.
