Job Description


Our client, AG Energy Co-operative (AEC), is seeking an Accounting & Finance Analyst. The Accounting & Finance Analyst contributes to the success of AEC by engaging in the finance and portfolio analysis responsibilities by supporting the finance and portfolio teams. The position will work with the CEO/Director of Sales, Director of Finance, Senior Finance Associate and Portfolio Management roles to develop a role that will support both key departments within the organization. The person is responsible to gather data and provide market analysis of any markets in which AEC has hedge positions (currently natural gas, electricity, and foreign exchange CAD/USD), as needed by the CEO, Board of Directors and other team members within AEC . The position is also to provide general accounting and analytical support within the finance area of the organization.
Responsibilities

  • Accounts payable/receivable
  • Journal entries
  • Analytical data collection, entry, and reporting
  • Annual audit supporting documents
  • Bank deposits and entry into accounting software
  • HST preparations
  • Assistance with Asset protection and security
  • Backup to the Portfolio Management role
  • Investigate other energy products as requested by members, customers, or other counterparties.
  • To provide timely and transactable pricing to the Sales Team to meet the transaction requirements of AEC’s customers.
  • To transact with AEC’ s physical counterparties to meet the supply requirements of AEC’s Core Portfolio.
  • Fundamental analysis of the North American energy markets, including any impact on Canadian and Ontario markets, with a focus on natural gas, electricity, propane, and diesel markets to be distributed to employees and Board of Directors as required.

Qualifications
  • Business degree, undergraduate and/or MBA (an asset)
  • High degree of competency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft software.
  • Knowledge of trading software (an asset)
  • Knowledge of SAGE account software (an asset).
  • Ability to author/create financial models
  • Knowledge of commodity markets (as asset)
  • Knowledge of risk management theory, and principles (an asset)
  • Ability to analyze and effectively communicate the results of analysis.
  • Committed to the highest standards of integrity and transparency as required by the best-business principles of risk management.
  • Must be detail-oriented and committed to accuracy.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under deadlines.
  • Self-starter capable of project management with minimal supervision
