ANAVETS is a non-profit veteran's organization supporting Canadian veterans and their families through advocacy, healthcare assistance, and social support. It also offers a multipurpose halls, bar, live band, sporting, gaming, and kitchen for members to gather, socialize, and enjoy meals, while honoring veterans' contributions and fostering a strong community.

We are looking for an outgoing, performance driven, compassionate individual to join our team and manage the financial responsibilities of our unit. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of basic accounting practices, be very comfortable handling cash, and be able to maintain accurate and organized financial records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record and enter (using QBO) all daily transactions, including cash intake, lottery, sales and other income, and expenses.
- Reconcile cash on hand with sales and daily records, VLT, ATM, bar sales, and gaming revenue streams (Bingo, Nevada etc.), bank statements, credit cards, balance sheet
-Perform daily cash counting and reconciliation for VLTs,
- Manage vendor and supplier invoicing, ensuring timely payments and accounts receivable (minimal invoicing)
- Assist with payroll processing, PST, GST, Inventory, Corporate taxes,
- Provide financial summaries and recommendations as needed. Budget, cash flow forecast, Year end audit, adjusting journal entry posting, quarterly
-Update and manage financial reports including daily journal entries, deposits and reconciliations.
-Quarterly GST, PST, WCB remittances. Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards.
-Prepare reports for Executives to support financial decision-making.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a good working knowledge of Excel, QuickBooks Microsoft Online and word.
- QED (minimum) or higher.
- 2-3 years hands on experience in a similar accounting role, preferably in the hospitality industry and not for profit environment, financial reporting, lotteries - VLTs, Bingo, Breakopens etc. would be an asset,
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with the bar manager and other staff.
- Experience with payroll and tax filings is a plus.
-Experience with payroll through an outside provider. Knowledge of Payworks would be an asset.
