Making Your Mark



We're looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Finance + Accounting Associate to help ensure the smooth and efficient running of our Finance + Administration function. You will empower a team of passionate sustainability professionals by providing accurate accounting, meticulous bookkeeping and timely invoicing to support delivery excellence. Beyond traditional accounting responsibilities, this role offers the opportunity to expand your skillset and step into broader operational areas, like supporting the development and implementation of internal controls, processes and operational policies. Your team orientation and positive attitude mean that you view every task as a chance to learn, contribute and grow.

This role is based in our head office, located in Toronto, and will report to the Head of Finance + Administration, working closely with the Leadership team. The successful candidate will work full-time in the office for the first six months as part of their onboarding and development, after which they will be able to work in a hybrid arrangement.

The Finance + Accounting Associate will support the team in the following ways:

Finance + Accounting (75%)



Manage full-cycle accounts payable and receivable, including vendor coordination, payments, invoicing and follow-up on outstanding balances Perform bank and account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies Manage project opening and closing in the company's accounting systems and support contract management Prepare HST/GST filling and remittances Assist in preparing monthly financial statements, management reporting and ad hoc reporting requests Support year-end financial reviews and assist with annual budgeting and forecasting Create and maintain documentation of Finance + Administration procedures Support finance-related communications, onboarding, training and awareness for team members Continuously identify and recommend opportunities for improvement within the Finance + Administration function

Administration and Operations (25%)



Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls, compliance and operational efficiency within the Finance + Administration function Oversee Q+P's time-tracking system, handling user and vendor setup and troubleshooting Support the Leadership team with administrative projects, meeting coordination and general assistance Collaborate with the externally managed IT services provider by coordinating and participating in meetings, sharing updates with the team, supporting IT onboarding/offboarding and maintenance of common area technology Oversee shared company software applications and accounts Collaborate with the Operations team to streamline and automate cross-functional processes related to Finance + Administration

What You Bring to the Team



Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business or a related field Working toward a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is viewed positively At least two years of experience in accounting-related functions, for example, bookkeeping and invoicing Working experience with QuickBooks Online is an asset Strong Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to analyze and manage data effectively using advanced functions and tools Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, ensuring thoroughness and efficiency in reviewing and maintaining accounting records A critical thinker who effectively solves problems, regardless of familiarity with the subject matter Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members across functions Demonstrates a company-first mindset and willingness to take on tasks of any scale to support team success Familiarity with Microsoft 365 with an interest in the evolving role of workplace technology Bilingual?in English and French is viewed positively
