The City of Weyburn is seeking a Filtration Plant Operator-In-Training to work at the Water Treatment Plant under
the supervision of our certified operators. The Filtration Plant Operator in Training monitors and operates
computerized control systems and related equipment to regulate the treatment and distribution of water.

Responsibilities:
Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment to regulate the treatment and
distribution of water. Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctions and to ensure plant
systems are operating normally. Read flow meters, gauges and other recording instruments to measure water output and consumption
levels, bacterial content, chlorine and fluoride levels. Collect and test water samples for chemical and bacterial content, analyze test results and instrument
readings, and make adjustments to plant equipment and systems to ensure quality control. Collect data as per permit requirements
Complete and maintain plant logs, reports and statistics to ensure regulation standards are met.
Clean and maintain equipment and the Water Treatment Plant facility;
Maintain plants, reservoirs, booster station and Intake.
Available for any emergencies/call out within 20 minutes
Follow instructions of daily tasks assigned by the manager or senior operator
SKILLS:
Well organized and able to prioritize tasks;
Data entry and computer literate
Team player with excellent communication and customer service skills
Minimum Qualifications:
Grade 12 or GED.
Class 5 driver's license
College or industry training courses in chemistry, water resource, pollution control or a related subject.
Certification in water treatment and distribution is preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience in a water treatment facility is an asset.

Starting wage commensurate with CUPE Local 90 agreement.
