About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Assistant Managers - Accounts Receivable, the Accounts Receivable File Clerk is responsible for carrying out assigned functional office administration and maintaining the integrity of information within the accounting subsystem in Accounts Receivable. The Accounts Receivable File Clerk responds to and serves as a first point of contact for customers and patients.

The Accounts Receivable File Clerk ensures that the principles and practices that guide Nova Scotia Health such as the vision, mission, values, strategic directions, ethics, safety, quality, partnerships and interprofessional collaboration are integrated within the support that is provided by the work that they do and through the messages they deliver.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade 12 and graduate of a one year Office Administration or Accounting program with an emphasis in Office Administration or Accounting
  • Minimum one (1) year recent and related experience in Office Administration or a computerized Accounting environment in the past five (5) years
  • Computer literate and proficient in using MS Office (Word, Outlook and Excel) and willingness to learn new programs
  • Ability to use general office equipment (faxing, scanning, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently, with continual interruptions, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast paced large organization
  • Knowledge of Office Administration or Accounting
  • Demonstrated accountability
  • Demonstrated judgment and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service, communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation

  • Physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position
  • Experience working within the functional area of Accounts Receivable an asset
  • Experience working within SAP, Meditech, Star an asset
  • Experience in a health care environment an asset
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

Long assignment, full-time position, 75 hrs bi-weekly
Beginning as soon as possible with an expected end date of March 14, 2025

Compensation and Incentives

$20.09 - $21.90 Hourly
