Mon-Thurs Day Shift Rotation working 10 hours per shift
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent, under the direction of a Supervisor, is responsible for working safely and productively while performing various assigned tasks.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Collecting water samples from various settling ponds, creeks, etc. throughout the mine site
Dewatering duties:
Installing, maintaining and removing pumps, lines and cables
Construct/maintain wastewater ditches, sumps and culverts
Wash, fuel and complete minor repairs to equipment/light vehicles
Assist Heavy Equipment Technicians when required
Site cleanup, yard maintenance and snow removal with use of appropriate equipment when required
Parts pickup and/or delivery
Operate a haul truck (dependent on operational requirements)
Maintain a minimum operating standard
Complete a minimum of one hazard assessment daily
Perform pre-start and shutdown checks
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor
ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promote a "safety first" attitude.
Personal actions comply with all safety rules, procedures and regulations
Take proactive measures to improve safety.
Effectively communicates Safety, Health & Environmental hazards to crew members and notifies the Supervisor immediately.
Ensure that hazardous waste is properly handled and stored.
Follow proper reporting procedures when reporting an incident to appropriate management levels.
Attend scheduled crew safety meetings.
Ensure that the hazard assessment/ FLRA's are completed at reasonably practicable intervals to prevent the development of unsafe and unhealthy working conditions, when a new work process is introduced, when a work process or operation changes, or before the construction of a new work site.
Assess a work site with team members and identify existing or potential hazards before work begins at the work site; and prepare a report of the results of a hazard assessment and the methods used to control or eliminate the hazards identified.
Familiar with the mine safety regulations.
Displays a positive attitude in words and actions relative to Safety, Health and Environmental matters.
Reports any safety incidents that are witnessed or involved in.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screen.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The incumbent will be a high school graduate or equivalent.
Previous experience working in a mountain mining environment will be considered an asset.
* Previous experience operating a bobcat, forklift, wiggle wagon or grader will be considered an asset.
