Job Description

Title- Field Research Assistant

Pay Rate - $28/hr to $30/hr without benefits

Location- Highway 16, Ardrossan, Alberta, T8E 2L4

Schedule: Mon - Fri 8am- 4pm, with overtime as necessary

Contract - 12+ months contract (Extendable)

Start Date: Ideally first week of Dec so they can get orientated prior to Christmas break

Note-

Experience operating equipment (Agriculture equipment is preferred, but forklift, construction and oilfield equipment will be considered as well), experience hauling trailers, valid drivers license, pesticide applicator license or willingness to get it, experience repairing and maintaining equipment.

Required Qualifications

Commitment to working safely and promoting a safe work environment for all. A strong mechanical background with proven problem-solving skills for diagnosing and repairing equipment. Experience operating and maintaining heavy or complex machinery (e.g., agricultural, construction, oilfield). Physically able to perform tasks that require lifting, bending, and working for extended periods. Self-motivated and able to complete tasks effectively, both independently and as part of a team. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and work extended hours during peak seasons (seeding and harvest). Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment checks, including a criminal record check.

Preferred Experience & Skills

Direct experience with agricultural equipment such as tractors, combines, and sprayers. Valid Class 1 or Class 3 Driver's License with experience hauling equipment. Alberta Pesticide Applicator License. Welding and fabrication experience. Experience with plot research and precision agriculture technology (GPS, data management systems). Experience training seasonal employees. Completed diploma or degree in Agriculture, or a related field.
