Position Summary
This term position serves as an instructor, field trainer, and preliminary evaluator, supporting Fleet Operations Training Officers in developing and assessing equipment safety, maintenance, and operation procedures. While training as a Field Trainer, this role reports to the Fleet Training and Safety Coordinator. The ideal candidate will have strong coaching, teaching, and leadership skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records, demonstrate effective instructional techniques, communicate clearly, work independently, and make objective decisions about trainee progress. Knowledge of the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act, relevant federal and provincial regulations, and City of Regina equipment and safety policies is required. The candidate must also support employee development initiatives.

Provide training on all equipment and procedures within the role.
Assist in carrying out the goals and objectives of the training program.
Use instruction techniques consistent with the principles of adult learning.
Instruct and conduct preliminary evaluation of prospective equipment operators in a large and complex fleet or mobile equipment to meet the demands of user departments.
Train and evaluate candidates in accordance with achieving the City's operating standards.
Provide input in the development of standards to which operators will be trained.
Conduct a variety of driver/operator education programs.
Maintain accurate written records for all trainees trained through the Fleet Operations Section.
Conduct upgrading and vehicle or equipment safety seminars.
Follow all rules and regulations as set out in the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act/ regulations and the City of Regina Occupational Health and Safety Manual.
Perform related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by Field Trainer training and certification for specific equipment.
Three years of experience in equipment operation, maintenance, and care, with preference given to those with coaching/instructing experience.
Leadership, coaching, and teaching abilities.
Strong record-keeping skills and the ability to demonstrate instructional techniques for adults.
Ability to work independently, make objective decisions, and manage trainees' progress.
In-depth knowledge of the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act, federal/provincial regulations, and City of Regina equipment and safety policies.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
A minimum provincial class license relevant to the equipment being trained. Working/Other Conditions
Candidates must possess acceptable and relevant driving/operating records. There must be a willingness to support and promote the direction of the training certification program and other training initiatives. Field Trainers will be required to continually participate in upgrading sessions.
Successful candidate may be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory criminal record check, as per the City of Regina's Criminal Record Check Policy.
Successful candidate will be required to provide proof of acquired education.
