Supporting the Department Coordinator to achieve seasonal goals, the Archeological Field Technician/Junior Archaeologist will use their training to retain data found in the field then input the information found into company software and use that data to assist with creating reports.
Responsibilities:
Attend meetings, present to the community, support departments for SNR success.
Perform all duties in accordance with the SNR policies and Health & Safety Program.
Lay out blocks with knowledge of riparian concerns, when applicable.
Identify and input inventory of culturally important plants and other First Nations cultural values including biological data collection.
Participate in AOA, PFR, CHO, and CHA processes.
Produce field mapping for crews when needed.
Assist with fencing, habitat restoration, planting and all other fisheries and Natural Resources projects when required.
Insert data into Fulcrum program and assisting with reporting.
Download photographs.
Train in GIS mapping
Sort, label and file artifacts.
Other related duties as assigned by the Department Coordinator.
Qualifications & Requirements
Knowledge of Shuswap language, Indigenous Communities culture and issues are beneficial.
Proven knowledge and experience in map reading and orienteering as well as Cultural Heritage Overview (CHO) and Archeological Overview Assessment (AOA) data collection.
Strong communication skills, ability to take comprehensive notes, as well as effective report writing.
Familiarity with Arc View, GIS, and GPS operations is beneficial.
Minimum grade 10 education with 1 Years' experience; or the equivalent.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs.
Strong written and communication skills and the ability to work co-operatively as a team member.
First Aid; Transportation and Endorsement certification is beneficial.
Must have RISC certification
Field work is conducted in extreme environmental conditions.
Driver License Required? Yes, Class 5
