Who We Are Reflex Manufacturing Ltd. ("Reflex"), a 100% privately owned Canadian company, is a major supplier/manufacturer of Reusable Flexible Insulation Systems (insulation blankets) primarily servicing Western Canada\'s industrial insulation blankets. Located in Edmonton, our dedicated field and in-house Design Technicians create insulation blankets to customer specification, which are then manufactured by our highly skilled production team in Reflex\'s Edmonton-based fabrication facility. About the role We currently has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual as Field Technician (Measurement). Reporting to the President and the Senior Vice President, the successful candidate will measure equipment on various sites and determine design requirements once fully trained by the Senior Field Technician. This is not an office position. The successful candidate also will be constantly on the road traveling/staying in camps or hotels during weekdays. Responsibilities
  • Travel to the job sites on a daily basis and from sites to sites.
  • Using the engineered drawings for piping systems provided by the customers, safely and effectively locate the equipment needing to be measured.
  • Conduct measurements of process piping and equipment, then design high-quality field drawings.
  • Ensure a high degree of accuracy in obtaining measurements and recording all related information.
  • Follow Reflex\'s drafting and design standards.
  • Work with team member to ensure complete and accurate transfer of drawing information.
  • Remove non-field modifiable covers from field, bring to shop and log covers and paperwork.
  • When possible, effectively modify covers in field and communicate changes made to covers to office.
  • Occasionally install covers.
  • Participate in additional safety trainings and meetings as agreed upon with management.
  • Assist in vehicle and field equipment inspection and maintenance.
  • Maintain well-organized paperwork.
  • Continuously improve job responsibilities through developing skills and increasing knowledge.

  • Knowledge of process piping is beneficial.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in the field, working in mechanical insulation is a plus.
  • Experience working with basic hand tools.
  • Post-secondary diploma in the fields of Mechanical, Industrial Engineering training is an asset.
  • Previous safety training (i.e. OSSA Fall Protection, Confined Space, CSTS, WHMIS, AWP, etc.) is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Working Conditions
  • Previous experience working outdoors and throughout the Province of Alberta.
  • Able to travel to customers\' sites on short notice over extended periods of time.
  • Extremes of temperature level (30\xc2\xb0, -30\xc2\xb0)
  • Working at height, confined space, etc.
Conditions of Employment
  • This position is considered "safety-sensitive". As such, the successful candidate must submit an Alcohol & Drug test.
  • This position also has a demanding physical component. As such, the successful candidate will be asked to have an independent assessment of their Fitness for Duty based on the provided Physical/Cognitive Demand Analysis of the position.
  • Operating a motor vehicle in a safe manner is a requirement of the job. As such, a five (5) year driver\'s abstract and insurance experience reports must be provided and acceptable
