We are seeking a Field Technician I to join our team and provide on-site technical support, installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various systems, including low-voltage cabling, fiber optics, access control, CCTV, antennas, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and digital displays. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their technical skills in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Key Responsibilities:
General Duties:
o Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment at client locations.
o Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions under supervision.
o Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks.
o Document service activities and report findings to senior technicians or management.
o Communicate with customers to ensure satisfaction and provide basic training on equipment usage.
o Follow company safety guidelines and industry standards while working on-site.
o Conduct routine system inspections and preventive maintenance.
o Provide on-site customer support and basic user training.
o Follow all safety regulations and industry standards while working on-site.
o Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working condition.
Structured Cabling & Fiber Optics:
o Install, terminate, and test CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optic cables for data and communication networks.
o Conduct fusion splicing, fiber terminations, and OTDR testing for fiber optic installations.
o Troubleshoot and repair cabling issues to ensure optimal network performance.
o Follow cabling standards (TIA/EIA) and best practices for installation.
Access Control & Security Systems:
o Install and maintain access control systems, including card readers, biometric scanners, keypads, and intercoms.
o Run and terminate low-voltage wiring for security devices.
o Assist in programming and configuring access control software.
o Ensure systems are fully operational and compliant with security protocols.
CCTV & Surveillance Systems:
o Install, mount, and configure IP and analog security cameras in commercial and industrial environments.
o Set up NVRs/DVRs, network connectivity, and remote access configurations.
o Perform system troubleshooting, maintenance, and camera adjustments for optimal coverage.
o Ensure proper cabling and power supply connections for all surveillance equipment.
Wireless & Antenna Systems:
o Install and align RF antennas, cellular signal boosters, and Wi-Fi access points.
o Perform signal strength testing and troubleshooting for wireless networks.
o Run coaxial and Ethernet cabling for wireless system integration.
o Work with telecom providers and IT teams to optimize network connectivity.
Point-of-Sale (POS) Systems:
o Deploy, install, and configure POS terminals, card readers, receipt printers, and cash drawers.
o Ensure proper cabling and network connections for seamless transactions.
o Provide basic troubleshooting and support for software/hardware issues.
o Assist with firmware updates and device replacements as needed.
Digital Displays & Audio-Visual Equipment:
o Install and mount LCD, LED, and digital signage displays in retail and corporate settings.
o Set up media players, video walls, and interactive kiosks.
o Run and terminate HDMI, DisplayPort, and AV cables.
o Calibrate and configure displays for optimal resolution and performance.
Qualifications & Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent (Post-secondary education in a technical field is an asset).
Basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, or IT systems.
Basic knowledge of structured cabling, fiber optics, security, networking, or electronics.
Ability to use hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.
Willingness to travel to customer sites and work flexible hours when needed.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
