Has responsibility for operating equipment and/or machinery. Duties may involve some technical elements but primarily focused on running equipment/machinery /systems. Role is hands-on and directly manipulates the equipment, machinery or system, requiring precise instrumentation/operation. Drive, maintain and operate a Pipe Recovery Wireline Unit; maintain the truck equipment as required and carry out rig-in/rig-out procedures; use care and attention when operating equipment, handling materials, operating company vehicles; ensure that equipment, materials, company vehicles are utilized in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Planning work activities and schedules with crew members and customer representatives on-site to ensure correct equipment is ordered, used, serviced, and maintained according to set procedures.
  • Assist workshop when required in the preparation and maintenance of downhole tools, ensuring they are maintained and serviced to relevant standards and fit for purpose, properly assembled for jobs
  • To know and understand all the standard equipment and or source required technical information for the job. Such as standard tool strengths, limitations, and specifications.
  • Perform all work in accordance to standard operating procedures (SOP) and ensure compliance to industry standards
  • Attend pre and post job briefings and contribute to the discussion to ensure lessons learned are properly communicated, understood, and implemented on subsequent jobs.
  • Ensure the unit you intend to use is fit for use and fully stocked
  • Confirm with your crew of any additional equipment required and work with your supervisor loading and preparing equipment.
  • Complete all paperwork as per internal and external requirements
  • Arrive punctually and be prepared to work for the duration of your shift
  • Ensure that Rig-up Equipment daily visual inspections are completed, and paperwork filled out.
  • Perform rig-in duties as assigned by the senior operator and/or supervisor
  • Perform rig-out duties as assigned by the Senior Operator and/or Supervisor
  • Perform location housekeeping/maintenance as assigned by the Senior Operator and/or Supervisor
  • Maintain close contact with the Supervisor regarding work assignments, promptly report all concerns regarding equipment to the Supervisor
  • Report all incidents and accidents to the Supervisor
  • Maintain open, professional communications with all crew members and company representatives.
Qualifications

Education and Training
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • 2-years previous electric line experience
  • Valid class 3 driver's license with clean abstract
  • H2S Alive (or equivalent)
  • First Aid Certificate
  • WHMIS, TDG Training (company provided specific to product line)
  • Oilwell Perforators Safety Training Course
Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to understand the basics of down hole well configurations cased and open hole.
  • Knowledge of oilfield operations such as chemical cutting, jet cutting string shot, free point, backoff, and electric line ballistic operations. (Preferred)
  • Has or has the ability to obtain blasters permit and ERD authorization.
  • Have a good understanding of fishing tools that are used in conjunction with Pipe Recovery operations
  • Have a complete understanding of all overall Wireline operations
  • Able to identify dangerous and hazardous conditions and act accordingly
  • Able to understand and interpret instructions both verbal and written
  • Able to interact responsibly with crew-members, company representatives at all times
  • Good English communication skills both written and verbal. Consistent and concise communication skills with internal and external customers alike.
  • Willingness to travel as required and work in remote areas - Required to work on a 24-hour call basis.
  • Ability to follow all safety policies and emergency procedures with internal and external customers
  • Excellent record keeping abilities including job reports and daily job costs through the entire span of the job from job planning to execution and post job reviews.
  • Intermediate knowledge of computers and computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Weatherford proprietary programs.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as an ability to work unsupervised and exercise initiative to resolve potential problems.
  • Must be able to travel on short notice and work in remote areas as required
  • Must possess strong leadership skills
  • Good organizational skills with a proven ability to work in a team environment
  • Proof of demonstrated communication skills (Oral, written, listening, face-to-face) with a commitment to professionalism in dealing with both internal and external contacts
  • Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedules form
  • Ability to work under stressful situations
  • Equipment troubleshooting skills (thinking of what can go wrong) with the ability to understand well bore conditions, dissect information, and offer logical and relevant solutions to complex equipment and/or down hold problems
