About the Role
We're looking for an experienced
Field Service Technician
to take the lead in our
installation and in-home repair services
. This role involves hands-on installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of residential accessibility equipment including stairlifts, wheelchair lifts, ramps, and railings directly in client homes across the Ottawa Valley.
You'll work independently or with a small team, bringing technical expertise, professionalism, and a problem-solving mindset to every project. Key Responsibilities
Install, service, and maintain stairlifts, wheelchair/platform lifts, ceiling/track lifts, ramps, & railings in client homes by meeting national/local standards & manufacturer specs
Perform home/site surveys, take accurate measurements, evaluate substrates (studs, concrete, tile), plan anchor/fastener selection, complete work orders & installation reports
Diagnose and resolve mechanical/electrical faults; do preventative maintenance and safety checks; educate clients/caregivers on safe use
Retrofit small home modifications (threshold ramps, step/rail solutions, bathroom safety bars) and coordinate with manufacturers and suppliers as needed
Maintain a clean work area, protect client property, and follow WHMIS/Working-at-Heights and company safety procedures
Travel within the service area; update tickets/photos via mobile app; participate in rotational after-hours support as required. (Company vehicle provided during business hours)
Learn and follow safety procedures and company standards
What We're Looking For
Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude
Detail oriented, dependable, and hands-on
Professional, friendly attitude and strong communication skills
Physically capable of lifting equipment (up to ~75 pounds (lbs)) and work indoors or outdoors
Valid Driver's License
Clear criminal record check
Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
Organized, self-directed, accurate with documentation
Nice to Have
Experience assembling, installing or repairing mobility equipment or residential equipment (stairlifts, ramps, chairs, scooters, seating)
Knowledge of Ontario Building Code and safety regulations
WHMIS or equivalent safety certification
Comfortable using hand tools
Experience in a trade service role is a plus
Bilingual in English and French is a plus
