Position summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Operator to join our operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of gas production equipment and facilities. You will monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production processes to meet daily targets while ensuring full compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
This is a camp-based position on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation, working in a remote environment. The role supports approximately 60 sweet wells accessible only by helicopter 9 months of the year and 14 sour wells associated with a compressor station and facility that are shut in most of the year. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a challenging and dynamic field setting while contributing to the reliable and safe performance of our operations.
Key responsibilities
Operations & monitoring
Operate, inspect, and maintain field production equipment including wellheads, separators, compressors, pumps, and storage tanks.
Monitor daily production volumes, pressures, and flow rates to identify abnormalities or potential issues.
Perform start-up and shutdown procedures for field equipment as required.
Adjust valves, controls, and equipment settings to maintain optimal production levels.
Maintenance & troubleshooting
Conduct routine field inspections and preventive maintenance tasks.
Identify, report, and assist in repairing mechanical, electrical, or process issues.
Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to address downtime or optimization opportunities.
Safety & compliance
Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, industry regulations, and environmental standards.
Participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and emergency response drills.
Complete required documentation including work permits, near-miss reports, and daily logs.
Production reporting & communication
Accurately record daily production data and equipment readings.
Communicate operational updates, issues, and recommendations to supervisors and team members.
Support field projects, testing programs, and operational changes as required.
Education, work experience, and skills
Education
High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade certification preferred.
H2S, CPR/First Aid (for the province of B.C.).
Certified in TDG, WHMIS, Ground Disturbance, Confined Space, Basis Fire-Firefighting, and ICS 100 & 200
Experience
Minimum of 3 years of field experience in oil and gas operations (production, gas gathering, compression, or related).
Essential skills:
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of production equipment.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
Proficiency working with SCADA, Maximo and MS Office.
Ability to work independently in remote field environments and respond to after-hours callouts.
Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., climb stairs/ladders, and walk or stand for extended periods of time.
Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Strong commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.
Attention to detail and operational discipline.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Capable of troubleshooting and making critical decisions quickly in high-pressure situations.
