JOB TITLE:

Field Operations Coordinator

JOB OBJECTIVE:

To be a leader on our Operations Team who is "Driver Facing".

The Field Coordinator will oversee the duties of the drivers and will be hands on in problem solving the challenges that can arise in the day. They will keep our drivers accountable while working alongside them, ensuring safety in all our processes with training and mentorship.

They will oversee the regular maintenance of our fleet and ensure the trucks are kept clean and organized with proper tool and rigging inventory.

They will also assist in the leadership team at OC Transport and be a liaison to the team for the drivers.

SCOPE:

This is a combination of a "hands on", in the field, leadership role and assisting our operations team with some dispatch which entails liaising between the drivers and management.

RESPONSIBILITES:



1. MANAGE DRIVERS

- To be the liaison between the drivers and management.

- To assist our drivers, to understand their and the driver expectations at OC Transport.

- To work alongside the drivers and be willing to train and mentor the drivers to increase their knowledge and improve in their skills.

- Co-Lead a weekly Transport Driver meeting with the Operations Manager.

2. OVERSEE THE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM

- Assist in overseeing the maintenance program. Help with the scheduling of regular maintenance and assist in sorting mechanical problems as they arise.

- Help to assess the priorities of repairs and maintenance

- Keep an ongoing list of what repairs to do and completed repairs

- Coordinate what parts / tools are needed when a mechanic comes to site.

3. A DRIVER FACING DISPATCHER

- To be the point of contact for issues that arise in the field and to be a support to our drivers in managing these issues.

- To understand the upcoming jobs that are scheduled and any special requirements that drivers will need to complete these jobs.

4. TRUCK MANAGEMENT

- To do spot checks on the trucks for any issues with cleanliness, maintenance and safety.

- Ensure a proper tool inventory on each truck.

- Ensure a proper inventory of straps, chains and rigging on each truck.

5. OVERSEE YARD & SHOP ACTIVITIES

- Ensure the yard and shop cleanliness and organization.

- Monitor yard operations

6. ASSIST IN THE LEADERSHIP AT OC TRANSPORT

- To work alongside the Operations Manager and bring continuity to the Leadership Team.

- Assist in hiring of new drivers and their ongoing onboarding process and training checklists.

- Assist in employee reviews.

- Come to management with any driver concerns that need to be addressed.

- Look for ways to make improvements at OC Transport and its efficiencies and report this information to management.

- Keep the CRM updated.

- Attend a weekly Transport Management Meeting

- Lead by example in the behaviours, culture and driving expectations for all Transport drivers.

- Organizational skills with attention to detail.

- Ability to multi task and assess the priorities of the tasks.

- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

- Ability to work in a team but is also self directed and takes initiative.

- Valid driver's license with a clean abstract (Class 1 or Class 3 license an asset)

- Previous management experience

- Basic computer skills and smart phone skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $50,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
