Overview

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Whitecourt office is recruiting for a Field Measurement Technologist to join the team. This position reports to the Supervisor, Measurement & Technical Services in the Technical Services Unit, (TSU), part of the Product Quality & Measurement (PQM) team. The Senior Technologist, Field Measurement will be responsible for stewarding Pembina’s petroleum quality and measurement management programs.
Summary of Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Act as a Field level subject matter expert on metering and measurement related topics;
  • Provide technical recommendations to Business Development and Project Engineering in the design of new pipeline measurement equipment requirements, specifications, installation and procedures;
  • Support construction and commissioning of all new or upgraded field measurement equipment;
  • Oversee and support the district with analysis and insight into pipeline segment balances. Lead the investigation into segment imbalances and be a technical resource for resolution of such issues;
  • Work in collaboration with Operations, Maintenance and other Districts to improve consistency of measurement and best practices on area pipeline systems;
  • Advise and support field maintenance team on installation, programming, configuration, calibration, and troubleshooting of measurement devices;
  • Monitor changes to industry measurement standards to ensure the most current procedures are meeting or exceeding AER Directive 017, API, ASTM, EPAP, etc.;
  • Ensure the custody transfer measurement and the EFM (electronic flow measurement) systems are operationally accurate, reliable and compliant with regulations, codes, standards and stakeholder expectations;
  • Audit current measurement facilities and look for improvements to existing systems;
  • Managing district EPAP reporting requirements for both operations and maintenance groups. Ensure compliance to all EPAP themes;
  • Provide ongoing support for WellTrak proving software;
  • Develop and maintain all district measurement schematics;
  • Support and provide technical assistance in witnessing 3rd party meter proving and ensuring that measurement systems follow applicable standards; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications
  • Provincial Instrumentation ticket preferred, dual ticket Electrical Journeyman would be an asset and other relevant experience may be considered;
  • Five plus years of related instrumentation & measurement experience is required;
  • Working knowledge of products, specifications, industry standards, regulatory requirements, business drivers, etc. related to Pembina’s businesses;
  • Modicon PLC Programming experience would be an asset;
  • Strong knowledge of OMNI flow computers, Modicon PLC’s, composite samplers, along with other analytical and instrumentation equipment associated with pipeline measurement;
  • SAP Plant Maintenance software knowledge and experience;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate interaction and cooperation with business unit, other technical disciplines, regulators, customers and field operations personnel;
  • Meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical aptitude, resourcefulness and self-motivated;
  • Energetic, resilient, collaborative while maintaining the highest standard of integrity;
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); and
  • Must have a valid class 5 license.

The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Whitecourt, AB.
