Environmental Impacts Research Technologist Term Position
InnoTech Alberta has an opportunity for a Field and Laboratory Technologist to work in our Environmental Impacts team within our Environmental Services Division, based out of Edmonton, Alberta for a 4-month term position.

The Environmental Services Division strives to be the preferred partner for addressing complex environmental, natural resource management and greenhouse gas management challenges. Our collaborative work with the Government of Alberta and industry has contributed to the province\xe2\x80\x99s reputation as a world leader in environmental monitoring, integrated data analysis, risk analysis, and carbon capture and storage technology. Our teams develop and validate processes and technologies that enable more efficient, effective, and economical environmental monitoring and management. We achieve this through identification, evaluation, monitoring and validation of solutions to address industry needs in environmental impacts and risk evaluation, integrated monitoring, asset retirement and environmental management. We support industrial decarbonization toward net-zero emissions through development, validation, and demonstration of carbon capture and utilization and methane reduction technologies.
Key areas of interest for the Environmental Impacts team relevant to this position include: contaminant fate and behaviour in the environment; de-risking technologies and processes for remediation and environmental monitoring; asset decommissioning; site assessment; and site restoration and sustainability. We incorporate leading edge approaches into our projects, including the development and de-risking of digital tools and genomics approaches.
Reporting to an Environmental Impacts Supervisor, the incumbent will be gain experience in:

Biological sampling and data collection in field settings including plant identification and habitat measurements
Preparation, maintenance, operation, and management of field equipment and vehicles
Uploading and management of data from various loggers and field data collection systems
Water sampling and management of aquatic mesocosms
Technical work in greenhouse and field including plant maintenance, data collection, plot establishment etc.
Understanding and applying ecological and chemical knowledge in an applied research setting

Qualifications and skills we are looking for:
Enrolled in a post-secondary program in Environmental Science, Renewable Resources, Forestry, or a related discipline
Ability to work for up to 10-days straight in remote wilderness areas for a portion of work time
Ability to perform strenuous activities for extended periods
Valid Class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license (or equivalent) and ability to travel around Alberta to remote locations
Experience operating ATVs in off-road settings or the ability to learn
Commitment to safety and willingness to fully participate in a comprehensive safety program
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficient with Microsoft Office
GIS skills are an asset
