ROHL Global Networks is a long-standing telecommunications and utility construction company dedicated to connecting Canadians in rural, urban, and remote communities. We are looking for a Field Health & Safety Advisor to join our Dempster Fiber Line Project. The Field Health & Safety Advisor will report to ROHL\xe2\x80\x99s Health & Safety Coordinator and the Dempster Fiber Line Project\xe2\x80\x99s Sr Construction Manager, and will be versatile in all phases of Health and Safety management. The Field Health and Safety Advisor will have working knowledge of the safety regulatory requirements within the Yukon and Northwest Territories. This is an in-field position from approximately April to November (dependent on weather conditions), where the successful candidate must be able to be on-site, working a 28/10 work shift averaging 12-hour days. Mobile Camp accommodations will be provided while on shift. Key Responsibilities

  • The primary resource for ensuring ROHL\xe2\x80\x99s safety standards and loss management programs are administered to support an incident, accident, and injury free workplace
  • Provides guidance and recommendations to employees and leaders on-site
  • Promotes ROHL safety culture, adhering to all provincial and federal laws, ROHL policy, internal controls, and practices, all while maintaining the highest level of professionalism
  • Interprets and advises all employees on compliance to OHS regulations and ROHL standards
  • Reviews safe work procedures for compliance and recommend changes as required
  • Provides a high level of visibility in the field by performing tours daily
  • Provides advice on the safety procedures and practices contained in the company safety management system.
  • Perform incident investigations and causal analyses ensuring communication and closure of investigation
  • Lead all Incident investigations with required parties and complete the incident investigation process as well as ensure any required reporting is completed in a timely manner. Develop any corrective actions and learning from investigations while also reviewing incident summary reports to identify unwanted trends and complete lessons learned communications.
  • Complete safety orientations for all new employees, subcontractors, visitors or client representatives as needed
  • Responsible for completion of all project specific HSE statistical reports
  • Ownership and accountability for ROHL HSE Program, management systems, standards and practices on worksite
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as needed or requested
Qualifications
  • Occupational Health and Safety or related/ equivalent diploma or degree in occupational health and safety or
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) Certification required
  • OHS Certification would be an asset but not required
  • 5+ years of progressive experience working in a leadership role in Health and Safety within the construction industry
  • Must have Valid Standard First Aid CPR/AED Certification
  • Valid Level 3 or Advanced First Aid Certification considered an asset
  • Self-motivated, flexible & willing to assist with additional safety related items that may not be part of the initial job description.
  • Able to work well with staff, contractors or client personnel
  • Must have a proactive and positive communicative approach to the role.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s license with a clean driver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract.
  • Telecommunication construction experience is preferred.
  • Safety equipment training / inspection certification preferred.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and possess excellent leadership skills
  • Ability to make difficult decisions and problem solve accordingly
  • Ability to conduct training programs and facilitate group presentations
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
  • Proficient in using computers and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks
What We Offer
  • $35.00-$40.00 per hour \xe2\x80\x93 Wage based on experience for this role
