ERM is hiring a Field Biologist to conduct Fisheries surveys in Yellowknife, Canada. Successful candidates must be flexible and responsive to a challenging and changing work environment where schedules, site locations, and tasks fluctuate according to the needs of the project. The role of a Fisheries Field Biologist requires technical skills, as well as strong organizational and communication skills. This role will require remote work based at field sites involving 10xe2x80x9312-hour days for up to 23 days at a time and time off between field trips, with the duration of the contract being 14 weeks.RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Field biologist position to conduct surveys across Northwest Territories.
• Work locations are remote and require field biologist to work independently or as part of a team. Other special status species surveys and monitoring may be required, based on available skills.
• Fisheries data collection.
• Navigating remote locations with GPS, compass, and maps.
• Daily reporting and survey report compilation.
• Other duties as assigned or required.
• Compliance with ERMxe2x80x99s rigorous health and safety programs.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Technical Diploma or Bachelors in Science, Environmental Biology, or related field preferred.
• 10+ years of Field Biology experience.
• Familiarity with the following protocols: electrofishing, gillnetting, seining, trap netting, angling for large and small bodied fish in fluvial and lacustrine environments.
• Familiarity with fish habitat survey protocols and general fish identification skills required.
• Ability to work safely outdoors in variable weather conditions and on challenging terrain.
• Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.
• Working knowledge of GPS technologies and map interpretation skills.
• Effective communication, time management, and organization skills.
• Experience recording/writing detailed technical data.
• Able to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to travel to sites that require overnight stays, as needed, to support fieldwork at sites outside of immediate vicinity.
• Valid driverxe2x80x99s license and good driving record.
• Valid First Aid Certificate.
