Inline Group Inc. has an immediate opportunity available for a highly skilled
Junior Geotechnical Engineer-In-Training.
This position will provide field, laboratory, and technical support to our Geotechnical and Materials Testing Group and project sites throughout Canada. Key Accountabilities
Work under the supervision of a Professional Engineer in preparing geotechnical and materials testing reports.
Ensure accuracy of report deliverables prior to distribution.
Review and interpret materials testing data.
Ensure that deliverables are completed/submitted on time and on schedule.
Conduct geotechnical inspections, subsurface investigations, field measurements, and record observations for various construction projects.
Conduct geotechnical assessments utilizing computer aided design and analysis software.
Performs quality control and review of laboratory and field test results.
Conducts field and laboratory materials testing at various sites which may include occasional remote locations.
Undertake review of drawings and project specifications.
Communicate and coordinate requirements with other field testers and laboratory technicians and provide technical support as required.
Communicating with clients, sub-consultants, and internal employees on reporting requirements.
Provides support in maintaining CCIL certification of laboratories. Ensure internal procedures adhere to industry or project specific standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in civil or Geotechnical Engineering from a recognized university.
Must be eligible for registration as an Engineer-In-Training with APEGA.
1-2 years of previous geotechnical and materials testing experience. Experience may consist of co-op term related to geotechnical and materials testing.
Knowledge of materials testing procedures (ASTM and CSA) as it relates to soils, concrete, and asphalt. Tests include standard and modified proctor tests, sieve analysis, Atterberg limits, hydrometer analysis, compressive strength of concrete, and asphalt testing.
Experience in geotechnical design (such as shallow and deep foundations and retaining walls) is considered an asset.
Competence in using Geotechnical Engineering software is considered an asset (Geostudio, LPile, Geosystems, gINT, SR Wall).
Visual classification of soils and rocks with reasonable accuracy is considered an asset.
