Field Application Specialist (bilingual, Toronto Remote)

Job Description



As a Field Application Specialist for the Clinical Diagnostic Division, you will fulfill our mission to make the world healthier by supporting our customers in using our portfolio in laboratories ranging from Toxicology (Pain Management, Drugs of Abuse Testing) to Hospital and Reference Laboratories. You will set up assays on various instruments, validate, train the customers in using them and support their operation through the life of the product. You will work closely with the Sales team in pre-sale support, technical support and Field Service team in focusing on a team approach to supporting our customers.

Location: Toronto/Mississauga area; report to the Mississauga office when needed (ideally 1-2 times per week).

Travel up to 85% of the time (Monday-Friday), Weekend Travel

Territory: Canada; with the ability to travel to the US as needed. Travel to Fremont, CA office occasionally for group meetings/training.

Support Products: , Kryptor Gold, Kryptor Compact Plus, , and , as well as various AU series instruments (480, 680, DxC700, 5800, etc.). You would also support our drugs of abuse, and Immunosuppressant Drugs (ISD) product lines and general chemistry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and validate assays on clinical chemistry analyzers at customer labs.
  • Provide onsite product and instrument training to customers and colleagues (as needed).
  • Collaborate with colleagues and perform other tasks
  • Provide technical support to customers onsite and remotely.
  • Proficient with benchtop and floor model analyzers.
  • Support Account Managers in product demonstrations, customer retention and securing new business.
  • Act as focal contact for key accounts.
  • Represent the company at trade shows and/or conferences.
  • Assist with onboarding of new Field Application Specialist.
  • Support new product development processes.
  • May be trained as Train the Trainer.
  • Participate with the Technical Service hotline on-call rotation.
Minimum Requirements:

Education:
  • Minimum education requirement is a bachelor's degree in chemistry or biological science; medical technology preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3+ years' experience as a Field Application Specialist; previous experience within Medical Device Industry preferred.
  • Bilingual French/English required
  • Experience with LC/MS preferred
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Experience with EP Evaluator and Service Max (or other CRM) preferred
Position may require Covid-19 vaccination, including a booster and/or routine testing, per client discretion. As a requirement to be onsite at Thermo Fisher Scientific this position requires vaccination status disclosure upon employment.
