Broadband Maintenance Inc. is a Telecommunication Construction Company in the Ottawa and surrounding area. We are also willing to provide training for suitable candidates. Responsibilities

• Splice and test fiber optic cables in all outside plant applications ? aerial, burial and underground, on both newly placed and existing cables.
• Analyze test results and have the ability to troubleshoot and correct any faults or defects.
• Interpret and understand placing and splicing work plans.
• Read and interpret work plans or job specifications to execute all work assigned safely and in accordance to our Health and Safety policy.
• Work outdoors in various conditions to splice fiber optic telecommunication cables.
• Clean and maintain tools and equipment.
• Accurately record and report project progress to the appropriate supervisory person and communicate any issues or expected delays.
• Climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet.
• Any and all other duties as assigned in order to meet Company objectives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of splicing experience required
• Ability to interpret placing and splicing plans
• Holds a valid Ontario full G license
• Able to complete the necessary training for working at heights and confined space, pass the corresponding examinations and receive a client authorization number as required
• Able to lift up to 80lbs
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Competency in OTDR and other testing protocol
• Good communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team
• Demonstrated commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable Health and Safety training as per legislative and job requirements
• Must be able to provide a clear criminal record check and a clean driver?s abstract
• Must be able to work various shifts as projects dictate (days, occasional nights, occasional weekends) and willing to participate in our on call program.
