Fiber Optic Splicer POSITION INFORMATION Job title Fiber Optic Splicer \xe2\x80\x93 OSP Division Reports to Telecommunications Lead Tech/Project Manager Location Main Office, 607 Front Street Nelson, BC V1L 4B6 Hours of Work Full Time Job Summary As a successful Fiber Splicer, you will be responsible for proper preparation and splicing of fiber optic cable within a telecommunications system. You possess a good working knowledge of telecommunications network structure; familiarity with fiber optic cable, splice enclosures and the functionality of each; ability to use OTDR and fusion splicing equipment; ability to read fiber matrices; ability to interpret and analyze data; and, ability to identify and troubleshoot problems. You will be required to competently operate special purpose-built equipment unique to the work. You will need to be well versed with national telecommunication carrier standards of practice from both an installation and safety point of view.
