Otter Co-op is accepting applications for a Full-Time Feed Operations Manager. This position will be based out of our Feed Mill located in Aldergrove, BC.

What you'll do:

Reporting to the Feed Division Manager, the Feed Operations Manager is responsible for overall operations of the Aldergrove Feed Mill to improve guest service, program execution and company profitability. This position will directly oversee production, warehousing and maintenance departments and their team members which includes scheduling, team performance management, budgeting, and attainment of financial results along with overall management of image, standards, implementation and adherence to company programs, policies, and procedures as well as human resources related activities. This position will work collaboratively with the sales and nutrition team.

  • Accountable for the overall management of the Feed Mill to meet production, expenses, and profit objectives.
  • Assist Feed Division Manager to plan, develop, and oversee the implementation of programs and policies.
  • Responsible for ordering micro-ingredients, bagged products and merchandise for both mill and warehouse by generating and tracking orders and ensuring on-time delivery and updating POS system for live inventory.
  • Create pricing reports for Feed Division Manager and keep track of price change for micro-ingredients and bagged products.
  • Manage the inventory and storage of micro-ingredients and bagged products at third party warehouse.
  • Ensure adherence to brand and marketing efforts, brand standards, safety, and asset protection.
  • Establishes short-term strategies, goals, and objectives in alignment with the strategic plan.
  • Participate and lead the development of products and services to improve profit and increase guest satisfaction.
  • Achieve established objectives of service levels, quality, and timeliness of delivery.
  • Train and support Team Leaders on effective scheduling techniques.
  • Address all performance or behavioral issues in timely manner; assist Team Leaders with progressive discipline processes in conjunction with Human Resources.
  • Provide leadership in the areas of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) including participation in OH&S activities, ensuring team members understand and comply with OH&S policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Work closely with other departments (HR, Asset Protection and Safety, Marketing) to achieve results that meet the required expectations pertaining to the operations in these areas.
  • Responsible for Team Member's engagement and ensuring the Team in living the Corporate Values of Integrity, Community, and Excellence.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Feed Manufacturing Operations Management and:
  • 5 years of experience in a related environment is preferred (Feed production and mill management).
  • Class 5 Driver's License (minimum)
  • Experience in a leadership role is mandatory.
  • Experience in overseeing and monitoring guest satisfaction levels.
  • Experience with coaching and providing feedback including performance reviews to other team members.
  • Ability to control operational costs, maximize operational efficiency, and productivity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to manage computer files efficiently is required.
  • Effective interpersonal, leadership and communications skills.
  • Effective planning, organization and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Hours of work will be dependent on the operational needs and at certain times throughout the year, work hours may include early mornings, late evenings, and occasional weekends.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, work with budgets and work within tight deadlines.
