Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the management of the people and operations of your location
  • Working with the senior management team to ensure the successful planting, production, harvest, storage, and delivery of the crops for your location
  • Develop agronomic field plans in partnership with Agronomy Manager & CEO
  • Scout & monitor fields for crop staging, weeds, disease, or nutrition deficiency in partnership with the Agronomy manager
  • Supervise in-field tasks such as seeding, spraying, harvest
  • Maintain crop condition in storage
  • Assign work tasks to staff
  • Train and mentor staff
  • Prepare Repair and Maintenance budgets
  • Ensure proactive maintenance of equipment is performed at regular service intervals
  • Ensure accurate record of farm activity
  • Lead your team, and in the busy seasons participate in:
  • Fill in where and when other employees are not available with priority given to training and developing other staff over personally operating equipment;
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP\'s)
  • Maintaining & procuring shop supplies and parts inventory;
  • The safe operation of all farm equipment;
  • Coordinate the movement of grain, seed, fertilizer, & farm chemicals; and,
  • Maintaining the farm fields, yards, and buildings to organizational standards
Qualifications:
  • Farm experience, preferably in a leadership role
  • Capacity to operate and maintain farming equipment
  • Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of crop market trends
  • Experience in the management of a farm budget; capacity to make planting and harvesting decisions
  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field is preferred
  • A valid driver\'s license is required, along with a satisfactory driver\'s abstract
